When designers present themselves in third person, I believe it becomes easier for institutions, clients, and companies to treat them as interchangeable labor. Machines expected to continuously produce new outputs. The portfolio becomes less a reflection of a person's thinking and more a proof of reliability and productivity.
It’s a funny thing though, to have achieved and yet still pause when it comes to calling myself a “Graphic Designer.” Perhaps I feel I’m still in the process, still grappling through a need for approval I once sought from the outside.
